Connecting with your Baby - Watch Wait Wonder (WWW) Groups
What Babies1st says
We are a non profit organisation. Our aim is to support parents to bond with their babies through Watching, Waiting and Wondering. We help parents to enjoy observing their baby, and so become more confident and relaxed. Parents learn to be mindful and present in the moment, marvel at their babies subtle attempts to communicate, to ask for comfort or seek to explore. Facilitators share the basic principles of attunement, which have been evolved by scientists observing children and animals when they feel at ease. The Watch Wait Wonder method has been developed in Canada and is now used in many countries all over the world. It is a baby led approach, that specifically and directly uses the baby's spontaneous activity in a free play format to enhance parents' sensitivity and responsiveness. Babies learn that they can have an impact, which helps them to develop a sense of self-efficacy, emotional regulation, and strengthens their most important attachment relationships. We also offer individual and group Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), where we film parents interacting with their babies (face to face or online), then showing them the best moments. We then reflect together what made these moments special. These selected once in a life time films are then given to parents as a souvenir to keep.
