Are you on the hunt for easy activities to fill up your Mother’s Day?
When you have a toddler, mother’s day isn’t quite the “put up your feet and chill” sort of holiday that we want it to be. If you want to do something nice, you usually have to take the lead and plan out what it is you want to do.
But, that doesn’t mean you can’t fill up your day with nice things!
We’ve come up with a list of activities that we think will allow you some time to feel light, chilled, happy and relaxed. Hope they help!
1. Find an activity/class that offers you somewhere to relax for Mother’s Day
Want to get out of the house but not quite in the mood to be moving or grooving?
That’s totally fine! Not every group or class that you attend has to get the blood pumping and make you and your toddler bounce off the walls.
There’s tons of classes filled to the brim with Zen and Mindfullness. Get into warrior pose and stretch out those knotted muscles in a baby/toddler friendly Yoga or Pilates class
Alternatively, you could visit a Soft Play or Stay & Play activity, there’s often a café or “chill time” for you to sit back and just chat with other mums, or take some time for yourself.

2. Go for a nature walk in the park
Technically, March is when we are meant to start moving into Spring…
Yes, we know, the weather can be pretty touch and go in the UK. This time of year, you could be facing blistering sunshine or thunderous downpour. There’s no telling which one your luck could bring.
But, if the sun does shine brightly on Mother’s Day this year, then why not use it as an excuse to go out into nature and enjoy the outdoors with your little ones. Collect leaves, watch the clouds, play Pooh Sticks, and enjoy the fresh air.
3. Create a sensory bin in advance and have at it!
Sensory bins are wonderful for your little one.
Toddlers and babies are still discovering lots of new sensations and feelings from the world. It’s the reason why repetition and silliness continues to get a laugh over and over and over again.
Sensory bins however are particularly fantastic in helping toddlers and babies to develop (as the name suggests) their senses. Namely, their sense of touch. They’re fun, educational, and will keep your little one entertained for hours.
(Not to mention that they’re suuuper easy to make…)

4. Mother’s Day chilled activities: Find a class that you can attend in the comfort of your own home.
Not in the mood to leave the house for your mother’s day activities? Faced with a rainy day?
That’s okay. There’s plenty of activities you can find on Happity that are fully remote and online. They’re a great way to keep you and your little one engaging with others without needing to travel anywhere!

5. Create a Wash Station for your toddler
This is another sensory activity that sounds super simple. Mainly because it is super simple! It will even give you a chance to sit down and take a breather.
Collect all of your toddlers water-safe toys (preferably plastic or similar material). Fill up a bowl with soapy water and grab a small sponge. And then let your kids have a go at cleaning up all their best toys. Add a towel to the side to dry up too.
You would be surprised how much they’ll love doing this one! There’s a lot of great tips on setting this up on the blog busytoddler -check them out!
6. Have a movie night in! (With an optional addition of a blanket fort)
You’ll be suspiciously surprised at how easy it is to have a chill night in watching some films. All it will take is a few blankets, pillows, chairs and clothes pegs. Maybe a few of your toddler’s stuffed toys too as additional friends for the experience.
The pillows go on the floor, and then the chairs just in front of them, closer to the TV. Make sure the blanket is firmly underneath the pillows on the floor, and then peg the other side of the blanket to the tops of the chairs. The addition of a quick few snacks, and you have a perfect movie night.
(It’s entirely optional as to whether you join your kids in the fort or claim the rare empty sofa for yourself!)
7. Make some easy arts and crafts activities for Mother’s Day
Feeling in the mood to get creative?
There’s plenty of easy arts and crafts activities out there that could occupy your Mother’s Day. One’s that you can do with items you have sitting in your cupboards too! Including washing up gloves, an old pair of socks, or your kids toy cars.
