FAMILY FITNESS
What Family Fitness says
Family Fitness classes are designed by mum and fitness expert Su, to maximise fun. The classes follow a different themed adventure each week for kids AND parents/carers to join in with. As a qualified personal trainer, specialist in youth exercise and pre and postnatal exercise, Su can adapt workouts to keep everyone moving at their own pace. Some popular themes include pirates, outer space, fairytales, lions and the circus. Fit Stars classes use the same format but are adapted to run at schools and nurseries. Children learn to join in independently and as a team with their peers. Themed classes can be created in line with the school’s or nurseries’ learning topics to provide a fantastically fun way of learning in a cross-curricular and active way. “You'll have so much fun you won't even notice you're exercising. Great for developing fine motor skills and creativity. The craft is then worn or used to help keep the imagination firing during the active adventure that comes next. Materials are usually basic items so crafts can be easily recreated at home where we encourage children to carry on their fitness adventures! Moving The instructor tells a story, on-the-move, based on the theme of the day, where we are all the main character. Normal exercise moves are disguised as actions our character must do to complete their adventure. Why run on the spot when you can be climbing the rigging, or do star jumps when you can be the star in space?! The adventure is followed by more active games. Freestyling is welcomed and low-impact options are always given . There are no wrong moves as long as it’s fun! Learning Children will be asked for their input throughout the class, from sharing knowledge about the theme of the
About
Fun fitness is essential no matter what your age!
I’ve trained individuals aged 3-80, families and rowing teams for 20 years and completed an MA focussing on motivations to be active.
What I’ve learned is enjoyment and the support of family and peers is paramount to becoming & staying active.
The result was imaginary play with my kids merging with my personal trainer brain… Family Fitness was born!
