What Fun-tastic Performers says
Fun-tastic Performers is a Performing Arts School based in Southwick & North Bradley near Trowbridge.
We provide classes for children from 0-4 to Adults 80+.
When I decided to open my school I wanted it to be a place where children, teens and adults could come along, have fun and make new friends all whilst learning new skills and exploring their talents and creativity. A place where everyone can be themselves and allow their talents to shine through.
My classes are very much tailored to the individuals attending. With many years experience in performing arts under my belt I wish to share everything I’ve learnt with my students. I aim to showcase their individual strengths, help them improve in areas where they don’t feel as confident and really encourage creativity.
Having worked with children throughout a lot of my career I wanted to bring a family like feel to my classes and being a mum too I wanted to create a safe, comfortable and fun atmosphere for all.
Starting something new as a child or an adult can be daunting but my classes give people a place to really explore their passion in the performing arts world, gain new skills and talents and grow in confidence.
About
Hi everyone,
My name is Clarrissa, I’m 30 years old and I am the founder and Principal of Fun-tastic Performers. I have two young children and it has been my lifelong dream to set up my own performing arts classes and once again be back within the industry that I love.
I started dancing at the tender age of 3 at my local dance school in Aberystwyth. I instantly fell in love with being on the stage. I started performing in professional shows at Aberystwyth arts centre at 5 years old with my debut as Gretl in The Sound of Music. I joined the stage school and performed in summer shows and pantomimes with the arts Centre and the Wardens Theatre company for many years. Alongside this, I attended Stagecoach Swansea and performed in many productions there as well as appearing in the touring production of Aida at The Swansea Grand Theatre. Alongside Stagecoach I continued to learn and take my dance exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern ISTD & RAD at Aberystwyth Arts Centre Dance School.
Towards the end of Primary School, I wanted to start concentrating on my singing. I was having private singing coaching and started getting the lead vocal roles in productions.
Whilst in secondary school I auditioned for a televised Welsh dance competition “Dawns-tastig’ that was going to be shown on S4C television. I spent 10 weeks learning and performing different dance styles each week. Through this process I became one of the finalists out of over 100 participants, reaching the final and becoming one of the winners of the competition, this allowed me to go on and perform at Pineapple Dance Studios in London.
As a child I also competed in the “Eisteddfod Genedleuthol” in the “dawnsio disgo”category, in groups, duets and solo performances. Some of which was televised on S4C television.
At the age of 16 I auditioned for the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and I got a place and a scholarship to attend their school in Guildford, studying performing arts and dance teacher training.
Whilst training at Italia Conti, I performed in many productions, appearing in the 2013 salsa based film “Cuban Fury”. I completed my dance exams in modern and tap dance with ISTD up to advanced 2 standard, ballet with RAD up to advanced 1 standard and received my PTLLS, CTLLS & DTLLS teaching qualification at Guildford college. I completed my 3 year dance, singing and acting course at Italia Conti in 2013 with a Diploma in Performing Arts & Dance Teacher training. Whilst at college I completed my LAMDA examinations up to and including Gold.
Throughout my training at Italia Conti, I was lucky enough to be taught by some amazing teachers and attend workshops with incredible choreographers, directors, actors and singers.
Whilst I was at college, I taught children to dance with ‘Outside the Box’ dance school.
From a young age one of my dream jobs was to work for Disney as I am a huge Disney fan! Just before I graduated Italia Conti, I went along to an audition for Disneyland Paris and I was offered a 6 month contract in Disneyland as a character and parade performer. I was so pleased!
Upon returning to the UK I worked 3 seasons as lead vocalist/dancer and children entertainer for UK holiday parks with the ‘Stage and Production House’ as well as ‘TED group’. During the winter break I toured Northern England and Scotland with the ‘Panto Company’ performing pantomime and other production shows.
During my final season at Hoburne, I started working behind the scenes within the production department. I then got a role within ‘TED HQ’, working in production, content, helping with recruitment/rehearsals and procurement. Alongside this, I was working for Stagecoach teaching young children to sing, dance and act.
Following this, I took a break from the industry to grow my family, something that I have always wanted to do! I have a son called Ezra and daughter named Orla.
A couple of years ago we moved to the area and I started working with children again in a nursery setting and I came across ‘Little Voices’ who I have had the pleasure of working alongside, teaching singing and acting to young children. These roles have now moved me on to opening my own classes, teaching children and adults my passion for performing arts. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Fun-tastic performers!
I am fully DBS checked and hold Public liability insurance. I have extensive training within the industry and love nothing more than sharing my learnings with others. I cannot wait to meet you all and have the best time together..... ‘Through the Magic of Music and Movement!’
