Swimming lessons for babies & toddlers in Claygate & Walton-on-Thames

What GoggleSquad Swim School says

GoggleSquad Swim School provides swimming lessons for babies and toddlers in calm indoor private pools in Claygate and Walton-on-Thames in Surrey. Lessons are led by GoggleSquad founder and former Great Britain and England swimmer Nicola Ayers alongside lead instructor Suzan Laverick. Both are early years developmental specialists and highly qualified Swim England teachers dedicated to achieving clear progression from learners of all ages. Classes in Claygate take place in a peaceful indoor swimming situated in the grounds of Claremont Place, a private gated development. Lessons are available on Wednesday afternoons, Friday mornings and Saturday mornings. The indoor private swimming pool is 10 metres long and 5 metres wide; the shallow end is a metre deep and the pool is 1.5 metres at its deepest, with hand rails at each end for convenience when entering and leaving the water. The pool is warmed to 31 degrees and has changing rooms, toilet facilities and ample parking nearby. Classes in Walton-on-Thames are held in a calm and luxurious private swimming pool on Monday mornings. The stunning indoor private swimming pool is 1.2 metres deep at the shallow end and 1.8 metres at its deepest. It is warmed to between 30 and 31 degrees and has a changing room with a toilet and ample parking close by.

About

GoggleSquad Swim School was founded by former Great Britain and England synchronised swimmer Nicola Ayers to provide high quality swimming lessons in calm and welcoming swimming pools.

When it comes to working with very young children, understanding child development - physical and emotional - is key to delivering engaging, effective and progressive lessons. The early months up to age of one are important for helping children get a ‘feel’ for how their bodies move in the water.

The swimming pool can be a daunting place for a small child, so they must feel in control at all times and having a parent or carer in the pool with them up to the age of three is essential.

For instructors, being able to read a child's body language (non-verbal communication) is imperative, and teaching parents to read the signs is also vitally important. This leads to children who are happy and confident in the water and ultimately, better learning outcomes.

We are members of the Swimming Teachers Association (STA), Aqua Sensory and Aqua Education bodies and learn from them all to offer an extensive and well-rounded programme of early years lessons.

Play is the essential foundational component to all early years lessons, encompassing schematic, imaginative, exploratory and constructive play.
