Hello! I’m Liz, your Nature Makers provider for North Leeds and Harrogate.

I am an experienced primary school teacher from North Leeds. I live with my husband, our two sons and our lovely dog. Before I had children, I felt disconnected from the natural world. My life revolved around teaching and much of it was spent inside. If I wasn’t on break duty, I would only go outside from the car to the school building and back to the car on some days!

One of the most extraordinary things about having my sons, Freddie and Jack, is that I have rediscovered the natural world through their eyes. They’re never in a rush to get anywhere specific and they look at everything around them with wonder and curiosity and ask A LOT of questions. They notice things that my brain had stopped registering throughout adulthood – plants, trees, pollinators, flowers, snails… especially snails (we once counted 12 on the steps outside our front door!). They reopened my eyes to what we can learn through exploration of the incredible wild world around us and that is so exciting, and something I’d love to share with you. Nature Makers is about nature and it’s about learning, but it’s also about creativity and inclusion and the endless benefits for children (and their adults) of engaging with the outdoors. It’s about connecting to the natural world and each other, asking questions and being curious. It’s about crafting and developing self-confidence and motor skills and many other things but most of all it’s about having loads of fun!

I am so delighted to bring Nature Makers classes to families here in Yorkshire.
