JA PERFORMING ARTS

We encourage students to show who THEY are as a performer, whilst developing Musicality and Performance skills. Whether it is lyrical jazz or an up-tempo Musical theatre piece, our Jazz lessons will improve technique, strength and flexibility. All of these attributes are needed to become an all-around dancer.
We focus on learning how to move and understand our bodies. We base our sessions loosely on the ISTD lower grades when the students first join, which are fun and vibrant way of learning!

Once the fundamentals have been learned, we then move onto exploring choreography and performing. These classes are fantastic for children who would like a little more confidence or children who have lots of energy to put into a hobby!

Our Minis will focus on the fundamentals of Tap Dance. Tap is a fantastic ay of learning rhythm, performance and discipline. Our Tiny tappers learn through fun songs and activities. From the narrated ‘warm up songs’ to learning to freeze with no wobbles or taking a trip to go skiing in the alps, each mini tap class is filed with adventure and excitement! Tap dance is an exciting, expressive form of Dance. It incorporates rhythm, performance and technique. From our Tots Tap through to our advanced adults, Tap is a very popular subject at JA Performing Arts. It is a traditional form of Dance but the ISTD have written each grade to reflect the growth and progression over the years, forming relevant and dynamic classes. As with all of our classes our students are invited to perform in our large shows at the Princes Theatre. We also hold regular ISTD examinations from Primary Tap through to adults.
