JELLYPOSE

The Jellypose Reading Club, Jellypose Readers, aims to instil a love of books, rhymes, stories and words that will encourage children to love reading for pleasure. Though carefully planned in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, the sessions are fun and relaxed offering activities to develop listening, reading, writing and communication for children.
The National Literacy Trust say, "Lacking vital literacy skills holds a person back at every stage of their life."
Furthermore their research has found that, "children who enjoy reading and writing are happier with their lives and are 3 times more likely to have good mental wellbeing than children who don't enjoy it." (literacytrust.org.uk)
In each Jellypose Readers session we explore sound and the early stage of phonics. We read stories together and sing nursery rhymes. Children can choose activities which are planned to enhance their learning and understanding, for example, through mark making, art and small world play.

These sessions are planned around the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Whilst primarily focusing on literacy other areas of the framework will also be included. The areas of the framework are:
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts

Sessions are fun and relaxed in a calm, welcoming and friendly environment. The Jellypose Reading Club is suitable from about 2 years to school age.
