Description
These classes are designed for both the parent and baby in mind, to give you the chance to breathe, stretch and connect with each other. Each session begins with a sharing circle and some grounding and breathing exercises. The first half of the yoga practice is then aimed primarily at the parent and includes a vinaysa inspired warm up and sun salutations with an emphasis on pelvic floor work, all whilst we keep babies entertained! The second half of the practice we generally bring babies with us for the standing sequence and final seated postures, with some songs and gentle baby massage and stretches. We'll finish the yoga practice with a quiet-ish savasana relaxation with essential oils (and some sensory items for the babies). This is followed by tea and a different homemade vegan sweet treat each week, to give you an opportunity to connect with others in your community (plus I firmly believe that yoga and cake are an important combo).
The yoga itself is open to all levels, whether you practised yoga regularly before becoming a parent or as a total beginner, everyone is welcome! This class is suitable for all parents and carers, and for birthing parents specifically with the following guidelines:
+6 weeks for an unassisted vaginal brith
+8 weeks if you had stitches
+10-12 weeks if you had a caesarean birth.
All mats and props provided, but please bring a blanket for your baby, and they might like a couple of their favourite toys. Tea and cake are included in the price of the class.
