MOTHER NURTURE BRIGHTON AND HOVE

This is a unique 4 week therapeutic group, run by professional counsellors, for Non-Gestational Mothers/Parents in same-sex couples. Our groups provide a supportive space for parents to talk and explore the unique challenges they face in parenthood.

What to expect
In these groups, you will be able to discuss your experiences of maternity care and parenthood as the non-gestational mother/parent. The group will be for up to 10 participants, with topics tailored to the needs of the group, which will include the journey to parenthood, the future, and parenting pressures. An additional photography component run by PhotoVoice, will be included, to aid the process by which parents can identify, represent, and enhance their community while exploring what it means to be a 'good enough' mother/parent.

All non-gestational mums/parents of children under 2 years are welcome to attend. You can decide whether to bring your baby/child along to the sessions; where children are more mobile and require higher levels of supervision, we would recommend attending without them if possible, to allow you to be present and get the most from the sessions.

When and Where?
The course will be run out of the Murmuration Therapy Rooms at 75 Church Road, Hove. We plan for the sessions to commence on Saturday 3 February 2024, 10am-12pm, with the remaining sessions being held on 10th, 17th and 24th February 2024.

How much does it cost?
This course is FREE TO ATTEND thanks to funding from Sussex University. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, alongside bus fare if required. For those who are able to support our ongoing work, there will be the opportunity to make donations in the sessions if you wish.
