Description
The Motherly Love Antenatal Course will guide and prepare you for the emotional challenges of parenthood, connecting you with others through honest and open conversation and exploration.
A new and innovative course that focuses on your emotional wellbeing, empowering you to prioritise your needs alongside those of your baby’s.
Facilitated by a qualified BACP counsellor and psychotherapist and former NHS peer support specialist, we will provide a safe and compassionate space to help you better understand yourself and potential triggers that may impact your parenting experience.
The course will give you a deeper understanding of maternal mental health and how it can show up for you and your partner, the symptoms to be aware of and where and how to access the right support.
Motherly Love has supported new parents for four years postnatally, and whilst we understand everyone’s parenting journey is unique, the women and birthing people we meet often bond over the same themes and shared experiences. Our course will cover important topics such as expectations vs reality, loss of identity, maternal load, communication with your partner, your own childhood, birth, feeding and the importance of permission and compassion in parenthood.
By the end of the course our hope is that you will feel better prepared to cope with the emotional challenges of parenthood and will have gained a deeper understanding of yourself and your triggers. Plus, you will have learnt the symptoms of maternal mental health and what to do should you start experiencing them. We also hope the course will help you find a wider network of supportive parents that you can be open and honest with, resulting in a more relaxed and enjoyable experience of parenthood.
