Postnatal Pilates (Level 1, foundations)
This course is perfect for those returning to exercise in the early postnatal period or for those who have not started exercising post birth. Minimally you want to be 6 weeks post uncomplicated vaginal delivery and at least 8 weeks post cesarian section and cleared by your healthcare provider for exercise. But most importantly it needs to be when YOU feel ready.
This course gives you the space and time to reconnect with your body. Although babies are welcome this class focuses on the mother.
Along side the fundamentals of pilates technique we will cover:
• Common physiological and postural changes in the ante and postnatal period.
• The importance of breath work and pelvic floor and core recruitment, function and
strengthening.
• Exercises to mobilise and strengthen your upper body to help combat aches and pains
associated with feeding, lifting and carrying.
• Spinal/hip mobility and glute and strengthening.
• Balance and lower limb functional strength.
This is a progressives course gradually increasing in difficulty how ever different levels will always be given so you can work at a pace that’s right for you. Spaces are limited to keep groups small for more 1:1 and hands on advice and guidance.
You are welcome to bring your little one with you and they can sleep in the buggy or lie on the mat beside you. Ideally babies should be pre crawling.
