TUNES FOR TOTS

The session will start with interactive songs and music making with small hand-held instruments, scarves and other sensory development items.

This will be followed by a live recital by pianist Matthew Leung whilst you enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, which is included in your ticket price!

Sunday sessions at Stanley Arts are bi-monthly but you can attend a weekly session for 0-3yrs at any of our venues by booking here. Locally, you can find us at Matthew’s Yard, Croydon on Wednesday mornings.

Tunes for Tots offer classes for parents and caregivers with their babies and toddlers between the ages of 0-3 years old. All of our classes aim to nurture the bond between your child and their accompanying parent, carer, aunty or grandpa…whoever it is that enjoys making music with them!

Led by professional musicians, each class is developed week-by-week via our teaching subjects, specifically curated for each age group. Our teaching subjects include songs with lyrics, scarves, shakers and percussion to name a few. Each age group also enjoys story-time to enhance the musical experience through sound, imagery, structure and imagination. Overall, growing your child’s interest in music and developing how it makes you and them feel is the aim of every class.

Lai Yiu is a music educator and credentialed music therapist (USA and Canada).

For over 10 years Lai Yiu has specialised in working with paediatrics in medical settings and children with special educational needs and disabilities. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music at the Hong Kong Baptist University, she furthered her studies in the United States of America, completing a Master’s degree in Music Therapy.

Music has always been a huge part of her life. With the belief that music empowers people, she has been working in the field since 2013 hoping to provide others with the same musical opportunity she received. She is passionate about and firmly believes in using a holistic, individualised, and evidence-based approach in her work.

Lai Yiu regularly practices her music therapy work at local hospitals, care homes and hospices whilst also teaching her weekly classes at Yamaha Music School Croydon in the evenings and on Saturdays.
