Inter-generational sessions bringing care home residents together with young children & their parents. A great way to give something back to your local community & help your children appreciate our older residents.
Current research has proven the benefits of mixing elderly residents & young children - from increasing self-esteem & promoting friendships to greater smiles & more conversation for elders. Plus old & young bring new energy, knowledge and enthusiasm to each others’ lives, building relationships, & helping each person to benefit from the knowledge & attitudes of the other.
Twistin Tikes Golden aim to get the young & old working together to have fun using music a range of songs and chair-based activities – from hunting for bears, to swimming with goldfish, waving ribbons or tapping toes, we aim to have fun!
Activities will:
– help older residents to get more active by helping them to use motor skills more effectively
- offer a fun chair-based exercise regime
- allow elderly residents to socialise more
- provide a different & unusual activity which will bring back happy memories for the elderly residents
- introduce them to young children with whom they can interact, watch & share experiences
- enable them to build relationships & make new friends – giving them more purpose to their lives.
For the younger residents these sessions will
- help the younger attendees to develop their speech, language and motor skills
- Provide activities to help them to become ‘school ready’ by offering a range of activities that meet EYFS requirements
- Allow them to benefit from the time & attention that the elderly residents can offer them
- Offer a free activity for parents
- Allow them to help elderly residents to enjoy themselves.
Parents who are home-schooling are welcome to come along with children of any age. Parents with babies very welcome.
A once a month session, which is free, but we would appreciate you booking in advance just so that we are aware of numbers.

Twistin Tinies Adventures classes are aimed at parents and carers with children aged 0 – 18months (non-walkers). Our current classes are an hour long and consist of 45 minutes of sensory and developmental fun to music; followed by a 15 minute social session, where you can discuss problems, get questioned answered and meet other parents while babies play at our Natural Exploration Area. Each class is a magical Adventure transporting you to a different place each week (e.g. Under the Ocean, into Space, to the Jungle, to an Enchanted Castle). Our baby music classes are designed to stimulate baby’s innate abilities, using light shows and props such as wind chimes, drums and shakers, and include activities that develop key skills – Hand-to-eye Co-ordination, Listening Skills, Visual Tracking, Vestibular System, Baby Bonding and Sensory stimulation. All activities are designed to assist with baby’s speech, language and communication development. Our Natural Exploration Area provides extra sensory stimulation for babies and allows parents and carers to have a chat, share experiences and make new friends. Each week, you also receive a weekly “Home Activity ” - ideas of things to do at home to further enhance your baby’s development, as well as a weekly video of a class (so if you suddenly can't attend you don't miss out!). You will also be invited to join our private Twistin Tinies Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/232915081220877) where you can discuss issues with other parents, ask questions and get advice from our Panel of Experts. Your baby is a Blank Canvas. Our classes are the Paint. You are the Artist. join us to make a Masterpiece!!
