We are excited to be able to offer a brand-new class at Woking Gymnastics Club. Our ‘Mummy and baby Pilates class’ is a Physio led post-natal Pilates class for mums wanting to build their strength after pregnancy and delivery.
My name is Julia and I am a qualified physio with over 18 years’ experience working primarily with Musculoskeletal Injuries within the NHS and more recently for the MOD. I have used Pilates exercises in my practice for a number of years, and have experience working with ladies both during pregnancy and post-natally. As a mum myself to 2 young girls, I know all too well the changes our bodies go through during pregnancy, delivery and in the months following birth, and therefore understand the importance of strengthening our core and pelvic floor muscles.
Babies are welcome from 8 weeks* until they are crawling, although if you have a new crawler who will be happy to play near you with toys during the class, please just let us know. Please bring an exercise mat for yourself and a blanket for your baby. Food and drinks are not usually allowed in the gym space but we are able to make an exception for spill proof water bottles (containing water only) so as to not damage the gym floor if spilt.
*Please note that following a Caesarean Section it is recommended that you wait 10-12 weeks prior to commencing general exercise. However, if you feel ready from 8 weeks and have GP approval you are welcome to join. *
