About
My journey started with my first pregnancy and birth in 2008. I was 25 and planning a completely different life and career but as my belly grew I became deeply fascinated with the miracle and magic of pregnancy and birth.
I had the blessing to see the same midwife Jane throughout my pregnancy and she happened to be on call the Saturday that I went into labour. I gave birth to my daughter in the living room of my little flat in Leyton (East London) with Jane by my side. I felt safe and held and had an incredibly quick, easy, and positive first homebirth experience.
Jane only did one ‘on call’ a month, so the stars aligned for us!
The seed of my passion for supporting women stems from my experience, having been supported by the same wonderful woman throughout my pregnancy and birth.
I want YOU to have a birth experience that is as powerful and positive as mine. I want you to feel deeply supported and enter into motherhood feeling as strong as I did.
When my daughter was one year old I started a degree in midwifery at Kings College University. I was a solo parent at this time, simultaneously working part-time as a waitress at Pizza Express. It wasn’t easy but I completed my studies with first-class honours in 2013.
Since then I have worked as an NHS midwife at both St Thomas’s Hospital where I trained and at my local Whipps Cross Hospital since last year. I’ve attended around two hundred births which I love, including homebirths, birth centre, labour ward and caesarean births, and looked after more than two thousand women within my NHS practice over the last decade.
But that was only the start….
I started teaching hypnobirthing classes in Leyton and Hackney in 2015 and my passion for yoga, meditation, and complementary therapies led me to complete an aromatherapy for pregnancy and birth diploma in 2017. Followed by yoga nidra, kundalini, and pregnancy yoga teacher training in 2018.
I was over the moon when publisher Dorling Kindersley asked me to write my first book ‘Holistic Hypnobirthing’ while pregnant with my son in 2019.
Combining all of my learning AND the rather more challenging lived experience of being pregnant with my second baby 11 years after my first (pregnancy at 36 definitely felt different from 25!) This gave my book far more empathy and the power and permission to slow down, something I wouldn’t have understood as a younger woman.
I’m so proud of my book because I know that everything I included has been lived and works. You can pick up a copy of my book here.
As a forever student, I recently completed an intensive course in Neuro Behavioural Physiological Assessment of the Newborn (NBPAN) with Middlesex University. This is in-depth and includes a thorough examination of 70 newborn babies with underpining theory.
I love what I do and I can’t wait to share all this and support you!!
Much love
