Description
Love spending time outdoors with your little ones?
Join like minded families sharing songs, stories, pot luck soup and good old fashion outdoor play.
Taking time to relax and appreciate nature and a sense of community.
Please wear long sleeves and trousers as well as covered shoes to protect against some of the plants at the orchard. Bring a hand towel and a picnic mat if you have one.
We normally all bring a vegetable or two (plus our own bowls and spoons) for our pot luck soup (which we cook on and eat around the fire) or we cook something else together (celebrating the seasons).
Where possible we try to run our sessions in all weather, however heavy rain or high winds does mean we will cancel for the benefit of everyone's safety and comfort. There may also be occasions where we have to cancel due to sickness (mine or my children’s). We have shelters which provide some cover from rain and fire to keep us warm. If we decide to cancel a session we will email/ whatsapp those who have booked on. We will then reimburse your money or owe you a session - whichever is your preference. Unfortunately we can not reimburse you for a session that you have missed, you can find someone else to come in your place if this happens however.
Health and Safety Considerations:
Parents/carers are responsible for looking after their child or children at all times.
Please help minimise the potential risks of the natural environment by
considering the following points:
● The need to move around the space safely and carefully- looking out for
holes and sudden dips, drops and slippery areas.
● Wearing appropriate clothing (long trousers, long sleeves and
sensible shoes in all seasons) to protect against scratches & scrapes,
nettle stings & insect bites and photo toxic plant burns (see below).
● Avoid playing near Wild Parsnip and Hogweed, particularly on sunny
days as these plants are growing in the orchard and are photo toxic (see
posters in the orchard or ask Maddy).
● Having waterproof clothing or a change of clothes for yourselves
and your children.
● Awareness of sticks, branches etc. at children’s and adults’ eye level.
● Awareness of the road/ path approaching the space and parking area.
● Avoid eating unknown plants/berries/fungi.
● Fire safety at any session when a fire is lit (Please familiarise yourselves
with our fire policy which can be found in the folder with the register)
