HMDT MUSIC

JJJA is a weekly Academy for students aged 11-24 which operates under the artistic direction of internationally renowned jazz pianist and composer Julian Joseph. The Academy offers talented young instrumentalists and vocalists an amazing opportunity to work with some of the world’s top jazz musicians. At JJJA students are encouraged and guided to evolve their creative powers and performance skills, through the exploration of the American roots of Jazz.

Through the Academy, students will build interpretive sensibilities through understanding the overall and stylistic sound of jazz, and develop their rhythmic, melodic and harmonic awareness as they build a comprehensive repertoire. The application of compositional structure is regularly discussed, practiced and underpinned with integral performance opportunities and great outside partnerships and visiting musicians throughout the year.

Entry to the JJJA Academy is by audition, which can be arranged through video submission throughout the academic year.

This is a recurring class, and by sending in an application form you are expressing interest in this activity for the whole term. Classes take place on Saturdays during term time at Bridge Academy in Hackney.
