Description
Feeling like you've lost yourself a bit in new parenthood?
Want to stretch your brain a little in a space that embraces you as a parent, and all the other things you are too?
Philosophy 4 Parents is a democratic space where we'll discuss a variety of topics, some related to parenthood and some not. In P4P we stand in solidarity with each other in our multitude of identities.
In this 3 week block of sessions on the theme Identity, Leah your facilitator will guide you through a philosophical enquiry, which is a very relaxed, guided group discussion on questions related to the topic. You do not need any previous experience of philosophy or philosophical discussion. You do not need to be able to name any philosophers either! All you need to participate is your life experience and the willingness to share your thoughts and listen to the ideas of others. There is no pressure - we're tired new parents too! You chose when and what you share.
This class is facilitated by It Takes A Village alumni Leah Williams, a teacher, mother and Trade Union organiser. Leah is trained as a facilitator of P4C (Philosophy 4 Children and Communities), and has worked as a facilitator with children, and adults/parent and child groups. In this class, Leah is eager to explore ideas with new parents and to see where these philosophical enquiries take us.
This is a group for parents/carers to attend, either with or without their babies or younger toddlers. Sessions are held at Leo Cafe which is a fully pram/wheelchair accessible space and well equipped with toys and room for little ones to roam!
You are welcome to book singular sessions, or block book all 3 weekly classes to enjoy exploring the topic in greater depth.
We look forward to having you join us!
