What Sense Stories by Kids At Play says

We bring books to life through sensory storytelling, helping little ones develop essential skills while fostering a love of reading.

Each session follows the Early Years Framework, designed to be inclusive and accessible for children of all abilities. Every story is read, using Makaton to support communication. Sensory accessories accompany the stories, bringing them to life through sight, sound, and touch. These tools engage your child’s senses, helping them immerse fully in the world of the story.

Children are free to explore our sensory lights, tactile toys, play area, and messy tray activities. These experiences stimulate their senses and encourage exploration, while we also offer a quiet space for those who may feel overwhelmed, ensuring a comfortable and calming environment for all.

But it’s not just about the children—it’s about you, too. Parenthood can feel overwhelming, and having a supportive community makes all the difference. Our sessions offer a space to meet other parents, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.

Reading is more than just words—it’s a chance to connect, imagine, and create meaningful moments together. Introducing books early strengthens communication, sparks creativity, and sets the foundation for lifelong learning. In a world filled with screens, we want to help you nurture a love for books that will stay with your child for years.

At Sense Stories, we celebrate every child’s individuality, creating a nurturing space where stories, sensory play, and learning come together in the most magical way.

We’d love to welcome you and your little one—because every story is an adventure, and every child belongs.

About

As a mother of a child with SEN, I understand how important it is to find activities that truly cater to every child’s unique abilities and interests. That’s why I started Sense Stories - a space where babies and toddlers, whether neurodivergent or neurotypical, can explore, learn, and grow in a warm, welcoming environment.
