What The Discovery Den says

Written by our Early Years teacher, our sessions will help your child develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them and gain confidence and independence to grow into an adventurous sociable little person

Baby Sessions: Different every week and packed full of light shows, puppets, bubbles and confetti balloons, rainbows and sparkles, baby instruments, music and movement, comfort and bonding, fun play ideas…everything you need to encourage your baby to respond to and interact with the world. We include lots of developmental info along the way and also make time for socialising as well as baby led play time or rest time.

Toddler / Pre-schooler Sessions: Our themed sessions start in our play area, the perfect place to make new friends and discover new activities together…messy play, crafts, toys, dens, dressing up, collections and treasures and lots of active play equipment. We then reinforce their learning with some interactive group fun using puppets, light shows, music, action songs, games, instruments, bubbles, stories and big show stopper props!

📜 Qualified as a teacher in 1997 with BA (Hons) QTS with Early Years Specialism
💪 Special talent for telling stories, especially Winnie The Witch ones with props pulled from the Discovery Den story sac
🎤 A big fan of Eurovision, the final always spent with friends and involves scorecards, bingo and a sweepstake
🍺 Loves a pub quiz and is part of a team called "Decorative Purposes Only"
🎃 She rewatches Gilmore Girls every Autumn and would love to live in Stars Hollow
Little known fact: Went travelling round with her now husband only 4 months after they met and drove a camper van round Australia and ended up staying in Sydney for a while in 1999!

📜 Qualified as a scientist in 1991 BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology and spent more than 20 years working in clinical research, highlight was working in a Phase I Unit in Edinburgh testing new drugs on healthy volunteers!
10 years experience running child development sessions, trained to Advanced Practicioner level including modules in baby massage, baby yoga and reflexology.
💪 Special talent for creating and performing puppet shows using numerous puppets and props simultaneously
🎤 Loves trying to keep fit, she is a big fan of Joe Wicks HITT sessions online and ChiChi Fit musical theatre dance fitness classes
Has been a Beaver Scout Leader for nearly 15 years and most summers helps organise scout camps for 40 plus children
Little known fact: After she got engaged to her now husband, they packed in their jobs and went travelling all the way round the world for 9 months. Loved Central America!
